Planning A Weekend Basketball Camp

            In this assignment we were asked to choice from a number of topics to do as a class project. I choose to plan a weekend retreat which will be a basketball camp. The reason I choose this subject was because it was something that I have had a lot of insight into. I felt that this project would be away of learning and also showing the experience I had on this topic. In this paper you will find the theology, purpose, schedule, traveling issues, cost, and things needed in order to attend camp.
             The theology for this camp can be found in I Corinthians 6:19 and Matthew 18:20. I Corinthians 6:19 says " What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?." To me this means that you need to keep you body in shape as well as you spirit. We will use this camp as a way to continue conditioning in the youth that attend this camp. To let their bodies as temples be the best that they can be. Matthew 18:20 says " For where two or three are gathered together in my name there am I in the midst of them." To me this means that as long as God is apart of the camp he will move in the people that are attending the camp. I see this as way of bringing teens that love basketball and may not have experienced Christ to a camp where they can enjoy the sport they love while having the opportunity of coming into a relationship with Christ. .
             The purpose of this camp it to use something that I love and something that the kids that attend my camp love to bring them into a relationship with Christ. In addition to them being able to come into a relationship with Christ they can also work on their basketball skills in hopes of becoming better players. I think the combination of Christ and basketball would help these teens tremendously because they will gain so much from it. As we saw in Matthew 18:20 that whenever two or there are joined in Gods name he is in the midst.
