The web-based interface will collect data from approximately 100 meters installed in buildings around campus and present it in a highly accessible web site. The system will also e-mail weekly and monthly reports to head officials at the WMU Physical Plant and maintenance officials throughout campus.

The exterior lighting sensor is designed to control a relay to turn on or off the outdoor lighting under its control. It is intended to replace the less accurate sensors currently in use and to provide a more accurate light threshold to reduce energy waste.

The meters are being installed for three reasons:

The following assumptions were made while making the Cash Flow table for the economic study: a Tax Rate of 40%, and a three-year MACRS depreciation on the asset. Any variations on these two assumptions would have small and little effect on the outcome of the IRR for this investment.
