She quickly sought an abortion but was denied due to the 1854 Texas law that prohibited abortions unless the woman’s life was endangered. Under the pseudonym of Jane Roe, she took action and challenged the law, claiming that it violated her right to privacy under the Constitution. Meanwhile, Roe had an abortion outside of Texas where such cause was allowed.
