Propaganda has always been one of the most useful tools that a government has had at its disposal. It has been used ever since language has been around. Propaganda is a very efficient method of controlling the masses. Even though it has been used for such a long time very few people have actually been able to perfect it and use it to its full potential. One of the masters of propaganda was Adolf Hitler. He demonstrated his mastery of it during World War II and even wrote an essay about it. Although propaganda was a very powerful device in older and less educated societies, it becomes less effective as we move into a more democratic society. It is my belief that propaganda’s importance is slowly diminishing. The more educated individuals become the less effective propaganda is. It is entirely possible that in 20 years propaganda will be rendered totally useless in America. Propaganda is a way to address and sway the opinion of large masses.
