Nation_Report_Japan
Japan is a very old and intricate nation. In this paper I will not even begin to scratch the surface when it comes to talking about the Japanese expansive history but I am hoping to give a little insight into their past.According to the U.S. Department of State the population of Japan in 2001 was 126.8 million and the population growth rate was 0.18%. For some reason I was unable to get a current population size but I did however find a projected size for 2003, which was 1 million people greater than in 2001. It is hard to imagine a population of that size living in an area smaller than California, with California’s population about 33.9 million people. It is amazing that Japan can harbor almost four times the amount of people of California and still manage as well as they do. Politics have changed greatly in Japan’s long history. When a nation is as old as Japan (around 600 BCE) it has to go through many changes, a flux if you will, over time until hopefully issues have worked themselves out and a stable and just government arises. In the early fifth century the Japanese courts adopted the Chinese righting system. A few centuries’ later and Buddhism showed its head and this s
Due to the overpopulation and mostly mountainous region it is hard to find fertile land onto which you can grow an abundance of agriculture. The few agricultural exports are rice, vegetables, fruit, milk, meat, and silk. Even most farmers in Japan have part-time jobs in the city because there is just not enough money in agriculture. Japan has very minimal mineral resources but they do however have an abundance of fish. The economy for Japan is mostly industry based in exports. Some of the industry includes but not limited to automobiles, chemicals, electronic equipment, and machinery. This makes Japan a mostly urban society and with that comes all the problems you have come to expect from urban area around the world. Overpopulated cities, horrible pollution, and overcrowded transportation system. According to an article in the New York Times “The production of cars, trucks, and buses in Japan slid for the second straight month in August…Production of buses plunged 28.1 percent on year to 3,852…Car production decreased 7.4 percent on year to 554,090…” just showing the common problems all industrialized nations who depend on exports to run their economy tend to have to deal with. Right now the economy is bad for everyone and our situation in America has a direct effect on many nations around the world including Japan. Japans economy’s long-term growt
