Pro Marijuana

Marijuana is a substance that has become very much a part of American culture. Nearly 65 million Americans have either used it occasionally or regularly. The word “marijuana” means many different things. Its definition is that it is the dried leaves and flowering tops of the pistillate hemp plant that yields THC. It is a natural substance that has been grown for thousands of years for many different purposes. It is also referred to as cannabis-sativa. It is one of the most commonly used drugs in the world, following caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol in popularity. In the United States, where it is usually smoked, it also has been called weed, grass, pot, or reefer.

The word marijuana means different things to different people. To doctors and pharmacists, it means a medication that can be used to treat pain and ease sickness. To police officers, it means an illegal substance that alters a person’s mood, feelings, and personality. To the average marijuana smoker, it means a pleasurable drug, which gives effects of euphoria.

Now let’s talk about the effects of marijuana and how it works. The effects of marijuana vary with its strength and dosage and with the state of mind of the user. Typically, small doses result i

Finally, the legalization of marijuana in the field of medicine is the biggest debate of this topic. Marijuana has many medical benefits. It eases nausea, helps control pain such as muscle spasms and spine injuries resulting from car crashes or sports, stimulates appetite, helps prevent seizures, helps to ease and prevent headaches, and can help relieve ocular pressure caused by glaucoma. Yes, there are other legal drugs that have the same benefits as marijuana does, but some have bad side effects, some are very expensive, and some even can harm the person using them. Marijuana also has side effects as well. All drugs do. The side effects of marijuana are mild when used in controllable limited doses. Marijuana is a benefit to cancer and AIDS patients as well. The ingredient in marijuana called “THC” is mainly used for relieving nausea, increasing appetite, and controlling the pains brought by the sickness of cancer and AIDS. In fact, most doctors and nurses will tell patients that the best drug for relieving those symptoms are a drug called Marinol. The drug, marinol is basically marijuana in a pill form. Isn’t that confusing. Many people are against the legalization of marijuana but yet some people use it without even knowing what it contains. Also, recent researchers have found out that cannabis contains a chemical that can protect cells by acting as an antecedent, which is more effective than vitamins C and vitamins E. Some doctors even believe that it may prevent strokes, neurodegenerative disease, and heart attacks. In fact, in 1989, the chief judge of the United States DEA said that, “marijuana was one of the safest therapeutically active substance known to man.”

In conclusion, marijuana should be legalized for the purposes stated above. The decision to legalize marijuana can also decide whether certain people live or die. Now, I do not think any high judge or government official wants that on their hands. The positives of marijuana exceed the negatives by a big difference. I am for the legalization of marijuana. Instead of stating the question of why it should be legal, I pose WHY NOT?

Now that we have found at the truth about the negatives, let’s take a look at the positives of marijuana. The positive elements of marijuana can be broken down into different categori
