Salt Marsh
1) In the salt marsh there is a population of bird, invertebrates, and fish. The ecosystemof the marsh thrives on the animal life. The dense strands of grasses provide an ideal nesting site and foraging area for water birds. The tidal creeks within the salt marsh is also excellent habitats for baby fish and invertebrates. It gives them shelter from predators and there is a abundant food supply. 2) The salt marsh is so important because it acts a protective buffer for nearby bays and estuaries. Marshes filter excess nutrients and contaminants from water that flows on land. The salt marsh is a unique community of plants and invertebrates that are specially adapted to being inundated with salt water with every high tide. 3) Smooth Dogfish- it is the most abundant shark on the Atlantic coast.
