My experience with the Walt Disney World College Program has been exciting to say the least. It has been what I have expected and a whole lot more. I work at the Magic Kingdom in the outdoor foods department.
I am in training right now for this job. It involves working at various stands throughout the Magic Kingdom. The different stands involve selling popcorn, hot dogs, ice cream, and beverages. The job doesn't just involve selling the items, but being responsible for everything at the stand. It is actually like having your own business. .
Every day I go to work, I"ll be responsible for my own bank for the stand, which means it has to be accurate. All the money has to be counted before I start and when I"m finished. At the end of the day, the products I sell have to match the amount of money I have. The job also entails counting all the items and basically setting up the business for the day. Along with setting up, I have to close down, clean anything that has to be cleaned, and counting the items I have left to figure out the profit of the day.
The most interesting and fun part of the job is actually working at the stand selling the items. It is amazing how many different people you get to interact with throughout the day. An outdoor foods position is one of the busiest jobs a person has at the Magic Kingdom.
My experience so far has been positive. It is a great opportunity to interact with people from all around the world. I am also learning valuable information how a small business is being run.
