When reading the story there were many points that jumped out to me and seemed very valid but none as strong as the ones that the author speaks of in the beginning. When the story first starts Hammil speaks of child abuse and spouse abuse. He gives the reader good many facts about child and spousal abuse and relates that to the people in jail and those in death row. Also he points out a good fact of the ratio of how many kids are abused
