Should America Allow Microchip Implants

For many years our nation has been faced with National Security Issues. From Terrorism to local Carjacking. The political arena has struggled to establish high tech ways to ensure the safety of our nation. In the 1996 Congress passed a law to establish National ID Cards. These cards unlike the old cards would contain a magnetic strip that would contain information on an individual. Over half the population of America now holds a National ID Card known as the Drivers Licenses and Comparable Identification Document. One problem that has been faced with this ID card face is physical security . The cards can be counterfeited, damaged, misused along with other theft acts. Having implants would be beneficial to the American citizen so why not "get chipped". In 1998 the proposal of the microchip was introduced by Applied Digital Solutions. The implant would fully protect our security by identifying every individual residing in the U.S. It would be linked to central databases controlled by the government. The chip would be able to mark an individual s exact location. (www.cato.org) Although this chip is not available to the public, trials of the implants have been conducted since 1998. After extensive research into the microchip. The chip is not as safe proof as it sounds. The chip can easily be extracted from a person body with a blade. Anyone who wanted to steal another person identity could easily do it. The procedure can be done in home with the right equipment. Considering that the chip is computer based, hackers can easily tap into your chip and gain all your information from the click of a key even though the information is stored in a global database. The possibility of malfunctions can occur. What will happen if patient X information became crossed with patient B and Patient B is an HIV patient. Two patients could be in big medical trouble. What if a person is allergic to a particular metal in the chip and establish an infection under the skin. Will the infection be treatable? Most importantly, With the government having some control over the monitoring devices which by the way are radio frequency devices. It will be easy for others to gain information on a person from satellites all across the world, not just the U.S. Alterations in Americans identity can be made at the touch of a key. By using a microchip, the only way to update information is to call it in, through internet access or be reimplanted. It will be easy for medical criminals and others to get away with crimes. They have the technology at hand and can implant their own identity into someone else. Implanting of the chip can be costly in the long run. The average cost for the chip is $200 not to include the surgical procedure, plus a $10 monthly fee for information storage. Over a person life they could spend billions just for maintenance. Once the chip is implanted, there is the possibility that an upgrade in scanner equipment may occur. Leaving you of course with the choice of paying an upgrade fee or your chip will no longer be scannable. The chip could also become a black market item in many places. It will eventually be marketed to young people as the new body piercing and tattoos. One day it could actually infringe on the rights of Christians, if it is made mandatory. Many Christians believe this revolution to be the Mark of the Beast as talked about in Revelation. The beginning of a New World order, under which national boundaries dissolve, and ethnic groups, ideologies, religions and economics from around the world create a dominant sovereignty. No one really knows what the real intent is behind the micro
