The taiga is located in northern Canada and Alaska. The temperature in the Taiga is very cold because it is close to the north pole. The average temperature is below freezing for six months. Summers are rainy, warm and humid. Total yearly precipitation is 12-33 inches. Most of the precipitation comes in the summer months.(Zack) The taiga is very cold in the winter. But when the warm summer comes, the ice and snow melts. The sun shines for days in the summer, because the taiga is near the top of the world.(Samuel) South of the taiga lies the deciduous forest biome. In the deciduous forest biome, winters are cold and summers are warm. A deciduous forest provides food and shelter to many animals. The maple, beech, and the oak trees are examples of deciduous trees. Deciduous trees are broad-leafed trees. They lose their leaves in the fall and grow new leaves each spring.(Leonard 620-621)
