Tanning
Have you ever looked in the mirror and thought to yourself, “Gee, I sure look white and pasty.” No? Well, neither have I, but I can imagine what its like. This is just one of the many problems that can be solved by indoor tanning. Indoor tanning has been around for several years now and has become an effective, efficient, and safe way to get the look you desire. Not only can tanning darken your skin, but it can also lead to weight loss, help your general well-being, and many other things. I propose that indoor tanning is the perfect solution when you want to look great and feel even better. Recent studies show that a regular practice of tanning can lead to weight loss. According to Dr. Zane R. Kime, the author of the book Sunlight Could Save Your Life, stimulation of the thyroid gland by UV rays increases the body's metabolism rate, which burns calories. He says that his clients had well developed muscles and very little fat, even though they had not exercised for months. When sunlight strikes the body, it also increases the tone of the muscles, under the exposed skin. Also sunlight and fresh air aid the nutritive processes of the body by increasing the blood supply to the muscles. They help burn up fat and develop y
our body tone. UV light also stimulates the production of MSH, an important hormone in weight loss, energy production, and in giving you a great tanned appearance. People who tan often notice they have a better attitude and just plain feel good about life. Research from the Harvard Medical School determined that exposure to UVA rays can result in a sharp rise in endorphin levels. Endorphins are hormones produced in the brain that are characterized by a rush of energy and a feeling of well-being. Exposure to sunlight is also known to reduce the levels of adrenaline released in the body, which in turn reduces the overall stress level. Our pineal gland coordinates our life-sustaining functions based on the light information it receives. These light rays we can get from tanning affect growth and development, body temperature, blood cell count, fertility and the immune system. Daily exposure to light also resets the system that controls the body’s internal clock. This system is responsible for moods, appetite, energy levels, behavior, sexual desire, and productivity. It has been proven that regular tanning can actually help your general health. Another added advantage for the ladies, is that exposure to bright light helps to normalize woman’s menstrual cycles and can help lessen the effects of PMS. All these benefits sound great, so where’s the downside? Now the question becomes, what about the risks factors of tanning such as cancer a
