Abortion

Abortion is a very controversial topic that is hard to take a stand on. It is difficult to understand the loss of a fetus which hasn’t been born. On the other hand, studies show that most unwanted pregnancies result in child abuse, whether it is physical or mental. There are also many cases in which the mother has no means to financially support her child. All of these infants, which are born to mothers who never wanted a pregnancy, have the odds set against them in the road of life. Abortion must be kept legalized in order to prevent all these negative after effects from becoming reality. Even though some people feel it is wrong, everyone should still have the choice to decide whether abortion is the right course of action for them or not.

There have been many known acts of cruelty and neglect which are practiced upon innocent children born from mothers who did not want them. This causes a serious psychological trauma upon these children, which dramatically decreases their probability of becoming productive members of society. In a desperate search for acceptance, most of them end up using drugs, which eventually leads them in to a life of crime. Without abortion, there would be a lot more violenc

Most pro-life believers don’t consider the fact that many abortions are done by women who get raped and are impregnated. Why should rape victims have to take the responsibilities of motherhood when they did nothing wrong and do not desire this great task of raising a person? The answer is, “they shouldn’t!” They too, deserve the right to choose on whether they want to keep the baby or not. Many times the presence of this child brings back the hate they feel towards the person who raped them. How can women be forced to take responsibility for something which she did not desire nor love? This would only result in ruining the lives of, not only the mother, but also the child.

On January 22, 1973, in the case of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court ruled abortion legal. The Court held that:

This supports the idea that taking away the right to having an abortion is unconstitutional. There were also thirty-two other Supreme Court cases which all held the same conclusion. These cases took place from the year 1973 (Roe v. Wade) all the way to the year 2003 (Scheidler v. NOW; Operation Rescue v. NOW). Taking these well deserved rights away would contradict the whole structure of this country, which is freedom.
