Abraham Lincoln

A great president, a great speaker, a man of morals, a man who knew what to do when no one else did, this man is Abraham Lincoln. Known for being involved in the events prior to and after the Civil War, there is much more to Lincoln’s life. Although he was known as a good man, there will always be people who must point out shortcomings in every good man’s life, including Lincoln. Thomas J. Dilorenzo wrote a book called “The Real Lincoln”. This book fights to prove that Lincoln was a political man, trying to take the peoples mind’s off of the economy and focus more on things that he did. The book goes on to say that he made decisions based upon what he thought would get the people more enthusiastic toward Lincoln so they would think of him as a God. They say that he brought upon America an “unnecessary war”. But, one will see, Lincoln was indeed a great man and these lies and false statements proposed by Dilorenzo are absolute nonsense. Lincoln was a great man.

Lincoln was born in Hodgenville, Kentucky in 1809. His parents were Thomas and Nancy Lincoln. His mother died in 1818, Abraham was only nine years old. Thomas re-married in 1819 to Sarah Johnston Lincoln. In 1836, Abraham Lincoln became a lawyer. H
