114.¡±Humanity has made little real progress over the past century or so. Technological innovations have taken place, but the overall condition of humanity is no better. War, violence and poverty are still with us. Technology cannot change the condition of humanity.¡±In this argument, the arguer asserts that technology has made little contribution to the life of humanity. To strengthen the assert, the arguer cites that technology innovations have not eliminated the threaten of war, violence and poverty. As a result, the arguer concludes that the technology cannot change the condition of humanity. What the arguer claims seems reasonable, but if we get deeper insight into the problem, we can see how superficial it is. Firstly, it is not fair to deny the great contribution modern technology has done to the life of humanity.
In addition, it is often heard that the automatic machines have taken the place of a lot of human beings and thus make their lives poorer and harder. It is true that some jobs were used to be taken be human beings are now substituted by machines. However, in this way, the efficiency of factories is enhanced and the pressure of workers is relieved. The workers are given more time to enrich their knowledge and have rests. What is more, since human beings are much more intelligent than machines and all machines are designed by human beings, machines cannot replace humanity completely and have to controlled by humanity. In a word, there is no evidence that shows it is the technology that leads to poverty of humanity. Admittedly, war, violence and poverty still exist in the world. However , it is not technology itself bring them
