The Installation Of A New System And Its Future Users

The installation of a new system and its future users

The implementation of a new system environment in an organization is very complex and time consuming. When systems analyst design and implement a new system they are looking to improve the current system already in place. Users that have already been trained in the old system, may not look forward to learning a new system. Some users may fear losing their jobs with a complex system. This fear can come from downsizing because of the new system running with fewer employees. Others may fear that they may not be able to learn the new system well enough to perform their job. To alleviate some tensions or concerns, an organization may present the users with effective ways to become familiar with their new system.

One way to help users learn their new system is preparing user documentation. Written or visual information about an application system, how it works, and how to use it. The quality of this documentation should be well enough for users to follow. This documentation can be geared toward the system’s functionality and tasks the system can perform to help users with the system. Documentation can be in the form of printed papers or on-li

The main way to introduce users to a new computer system is training. This can be the most costly way and most effective. Training users to be effective with the systems they now have, may be a more cost-effective way to increase productivity. Helping users become accustom with a new system, by spending more money on their training will benefit the organization as a whole. This will also prevent users from becoming afraid of the new system. When a new system is being implemented, users may question the relevance of it. If an old system had major problems in the past it may be easier for management to get users excited about a new system. If an older system had minimal problems, then an organization should be able to point out to future users, what the benefits will be. If an old system was working good, the new system will have to work better. If the new system is less effective or problematic, users will reject it. A rejection of a new system will cost a company a lot of time and money. With a good training system implemented by the organization a user may start to feel more comfortable with working in a new system. While in training, one can also see that other users are in the same position that they are currently in, learning a new system. There are different methods in training users to work on a new system. Users can be trained by a instructor in a class setting or a one on one setting. Some training can be completed on a computer-aided system. Others may be trained solely or with training m
