This Jewish state, Israel, is by far the most western influenced country in the Middle East. It is a product of the western world that exists in the Middle East today. Israel’s ties to the United States and Britain have greatly aided in not only the birth of their country, but how they sustain their existence. Being a western state in an anti-western world, however, is the main reason for attacks and revolts agianst Israel. The pure hatred for the West in the Middle East is the cause for nearly all of Israel’s trouble and fighting. The Western world’s influence on Israel has helped and harmed the country alike. It is amazing that Israel has been able to flourish while constantly being the victim of terrorism and attacks from the PLO. Britain, being besieged by the Americans, the Arabs, and the Jews, sent the issue of the Jewish Homeland to the United Nations. They in turn decided to partition the lands known as Palestine. On May, 14, 1948 the United Nations voted to establish a Jewish homeland in Palestine to be called Israel.

Besides being educationally superior, Israel is by far the most technologically advanced country in the Middle East, and among the top in the world. Israel’s brilliant technology in software and weaponry may surpass even the United States, and has certainly helped them in wars, and in trade.

tism. This movement sought to reestablish a Jewish homeland in Palestine. The Old Testament tells of Palestine being the Jewish homeland, until the Jews were driven from it by the Romans over two-thousand years ago. In the 19th century, many Jews still thought of Palestine as their rightful homeland. Because of these beliefs and the rise of Zionism, Jews began to migrate and move into Palestine. It is believed by the Jews that Jerusalem, their holy city in Palestine, was built by their king, King David, over three-thousand years ago, and is rightfully theirs. The Arabs believe that because the Jews left and have been living elsewhere while Palestine was home to them, the land is rightfully theirs. This conflict constantly escalated, and is continuing to do so each day.
