Faith

Faith is what the Bible describes in Hebrews 11:1 as the "Substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." This suggests that even though we cannot see something like the wind, we should believe that it is there. The Bible is probably the best source to discover what faith is supposed to be. (Hebrews 11:1) In the book of Matthew, several examples of faith are given. Matthew 8:5-13 says, "Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, saying, "Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed and dreadfully tormented." And Jesus said to him, "I will come and heal him." The centurion answered and said "Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word and my servant will be healed. For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, "Go," and he goes, and "Come" to another and he comes, and to my servant, "Do this" and he does it." When Jesus heard the man he marveled and said to those who followed, "Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel! And I say to you that many will come from the east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." And Jesus said to the centurion, "Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you." And his servant was healed in that same hour."(Matthew 8:5-13) In Matthew 9:18-26, the ruler's daughter was healed. It says, "While He spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshipped Him saying, "My daughter has just died, but come and lay Your hand on her and she will live." So Jesus arose and followed him, and so did His disciples. And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment. For she said to herself, "If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.
