The Right To Bear Arms

The Second Article to the Amendments of the Constitution of the United States of America states: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
The Second Amendment's intent focuses on two clear factors: individuals have the right to possess arms to defend themselves and their property and States retain the right to maintain militias composed of these individually armed citizens. Clearly this speaks to those who now wish to take away those rights or modify them to their own interpretations. The top issues in the ongoing debate over gun control are criminals, crime and children. .
Many politicians who push gun control want guns kept away from criminals and people with mental problems, but it is a little ironic that they are the same that want the government to stand aside while Sadaam sits on chemical and biological weapons. These are the same that voted against the resolution authorizing the use of force against Sadaam, a criminal with mental problems.
Gun control will only affect those that obey the law, not criminals. According to data published by the NRA, states with waiting periods have seen increases in homicides. Criminals that cannot pass the required waiting periods or an immediate background check can easily get one on the street.
It is unreasonable to ask citizens to put their lives in the hands of the local law enforcement agencies because many times they are too late or too slow to respond. The advice not to resist a criminal assault and simply hand over the goods is founded on the idea that your life is irreplaceable and no amount of property is worth it. A criminal who prefers that kind of violence will not stop to say, "Give me what I want and I will not kill you.".
For example: One may fear for their life, take out a restraining order, following what the law desires them to do but when that fear comes knocking on their door it is obviously too late to call 911 to send out the troops to enact on this right of protection because the fear has become reality and death is inevitable.
