This information shows the public that Minnesota is a good place to live if they plan on getting into the high-tech industries in the coming years. In just a few years Minnesota has moved up 10 places in the overall rankings. This may lure more and more already trained individuals to the state, but they can’t possible take all of the jobs. Residents of Minnesota have a lot of technological growth to look forward to in the coming years.

As time goes by, high-tech skills will be more and more important as every industry moves more towards technology. Industries that didn’t need computers in the past are going to start to need them, as the world depends more and more on digital forms of payment, and record keeping. Currently 60 out of every 1000 workers in Minnesota are in the high-tech industry (The Children’s Partnership, page 1). This number is expected to double as soon as the year 2006 (The Children’s Partnership, page 1). From 2006 to 2010, jobs in the high-tech field are expected to increase an additional 67% (The Children’s Partnership, page 1). By the time 2010 comes around, over 200 out of every 1000 jobs is going to be in the high-tech field, 20%.

In the coming years, it will become harder and harder to avoid technological jobs. Even people who don’t like technology or computers will have no choice but to use them in the near future.
