Elizabeth 2

My paper is about the life of Queen Elizabeth II. It begins with her early years as a child, then it proceeds through her teenager years and her marriage to Philip. It also talks about her coronation and life as a queen in power. During her reign as Queen the family grows and she visits the Commonwealths of England. Finally towards the time when she older and to the present day. Queen Elizabeth had a remarkable life.
"Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary, as she was named, was born in London on April 21, 1926"(Wood 6). Also Woods had said that nobody expected her to become queen; it was a surprise. I think life fills a lot of people with surprise but when not expected being given that power and then getting it must be wonderful. Elizabeth had a younger sister named Margaret and both were taught to act formal in public and wave hands, they even cut their pockets out of their dresses to not fidget(Wood 7). It was very important at this time to act proper and polite being a part of royalty you need show great morality. In 1936, the royal family suffered a change, King George V, her grandfather, died and her uncle was supposed to get the thrown, she was royalty before but her father never expected to be king.(Wood 11) Her uncle was supposed to be given power but he decided to pass being King Edward VIII and marry his American girlfriend Wallis Simpson instead(Wood 10). The power of being a king is hard and he also was not interested in the duties and responsibilities. King George VI was given power to be king and he disliked public life and never wanted the responsibility either but he felt it was his duty to do so(Wood 10). King George VI was her father and because of her uncle passion toward a women giving up the power she was granted what she has today. I still think it interesting to know that her uncle could have taken the thrown and she would have never been recognized. Her life changed because her father became king they moved in to a palace and there were even more social rules to follow.
