Animal testing

When it comes to animals and their rights, there is a definite line between our needs and our taking advantage of the animals that some people consider inferior. When it comes to the needless torture of animals through testing is not a necessity for human survival.
Every year, nearly 100 million animals die in research laboratories in order for scientists to perform outdated and inaccurate tests that prove no benefit to humans or to the animals that must die.
Is it right to take a life.
             against.
The question is, is it right to take the life of an innocent animal just to make money or to find out if a chemical is safe for humans? Animal testing or vivisection, as it is commonly called, promises to cure ills through animal experimentation. Dr. Werner Hartinger, MD, a surgeon in West Germany, claims that if animal testing is stopped that it will be the end of human cures. The uninformed public tends to agree with this statement, simply because they would rather have an animal suffer and die than a person. The public usually does not see what goes on behind closed doors to these poor animals. The public does not see how these poor animals are routinely burned, scalded, poisoned, starved, given electric shocks, addicted to drugs, subjected to near freezing temperatures, dosed with radioactive elements, driven insane, deliberately inflicted with diseases such as cancer, diabetes, oral infections, stomach ulcers, syphilis, herpes and AIDS. Their eyes are surgically removed, their brains and spinal cords damaged, and their bones broken. The usage of anesthesia is not mandated by law, thus is rarely administered. Despite all of this cruelty, not a single disease has been cured through vivisection in this century. For animal rights activists, like People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the answer is no. PETA pressures labs into halting experiments because they believe that animals are not to be used by humans for "food, clothing, entertainment, or to experiment on".
