Change

What's change? In the dictionary, the definition of change is the act or an instance of making or becoming different or an alteration or modification. To me, change is something new and you experience changes throughout your life. It can be a good thing when you have control over it but it can also be bad when it is forced on you and you have no control of it. Everyone has experienced change and will experience many more in the future because change is a natural part of life. From small things that affect nobody else, like a new friend, to big things that affect the community, like changes in technology. The Bali bombing has affected and changed many people's lives personally and has affected them as a community, initiating actions that would bring more change.
Change can be either good or bad, or both. Text 1 from the Stimulus booklet "The Door" by Miroslav Holub, emphasises the positive side of change. The poem tries really hard to persuade the reader into experiencing change. Imperative language, figurative language and repetition, and many other techniques have been used to show his positive attitude towards change. .
The poem "The Door" basically orders the reader to embrace change. "Go and open the door." In this sentence, Holub uses imperative language to command the reader. This sentence is repeated over and over to persuade us to embrace change.
Figurative language has also been used to tell the reader to allow change. "If there is a fog, it will clear," Another example of figurative language. It says even if the change seems weird at first, it will seem normal to you later or if there is uncertainties at the start, it will ease after a while.
It's kind of like me when I first changed schools, from Ashfield to Caringbah. It was a very big change and I felt weird and unsure at the start but after a period of time, I soon adapted to my new environment and felt very good because I had chosen to make this change.
