The Wedding Planners
The conversation I chose to examine was between my 2 sisters and myself as we focused on coordinating a surprise wedding for my parents. As the conversation took place, it was evident how elements defining the Biological Theory, J. Wood described in her book Gendered Lives, appeared throughout our discussion. Within this paper, I will provide details on how these elements guided our natural flowing conversation during our decision-making process, as we demonstrated uses of the brain. There is still, however, the need for development as I show our limitations. As discussed by J. Wood, the distinctions between women and men’s communication styles are closely related to the construction of the brain and its development. There are 2 sides of the brain: 1. The left side of the brain encourages mathematical, scientific, methodical, sequential, categorizing and logical thought. It is used for taking a whole concept and dissecting it into parts. (men tend to be stronger at using the left side) 2. The right side of the brain supports creativity, artistic doings, descriptive thought, imagination, and spatial recognition.
