Bowling For Columbine Is Effective
The movie Bowling for Columbine brought back a lot of memories for me. I have had a lot of different experiences with people I know getting shot. I have lost two brothers to guns. One was by a sixteen year old boy that shot my brother Richard with a sixteen gauge shotgun and my brother Bruce was a suicide by a small handgun. I not only lost two brothers too guns but I have also had my house shot up by a seventeen year old boy. The boy was mad at my step-son and while driving by my house he used a Tech-nine gun to shoot it up. This was caused by young teens having access to guns and ammunition. These were all senseless shootings. This film is funny in parts but a lot more serious in others. When the movie first starts it shows Michael Moore bowling while words “are we a country of gun nuts or are we just nuts” comes across the screen (Bowling for Columbine). This should make you pay attention and think about what this movie is going to be about: that gun violence, especially that of children on children, is rampant in this country and easy access to guns is one of the reasons. Michael Moore is effective at showing that it is too easy for young children to get a hold of guns and ammuni
tion because of , the violent scenes he shows, his interviews with people, and his emotional stories. Michael Moore made this movie because he is hoping that people of America will get together and make tougher gun laws. This alone will effect children being able to shoot other children. I believe that everyone should watch this movie because it just might open up their eyes and make them see what is going on in our country. I believe that Michael Moore is not trying to take sides with anyone, but he is appalled by the tragic events that has occurred in America as the results of easy access to guns and ammunition. In this movie Michael Moore points out that in America access to guns and ammunition is out of control. If more people would just try and get these guns out of the hands of the wrong people we might be able to stop these senseless tragedies. The father Tom Mauser that lost his son Daniel to the Columbine shooting , the Home Security consultant Denny Fennell getting all choked up and not being able to talk about the Columbine shootings, and the Principal of Theo J Buell Elementary School, Jimmie Hughes, crying and Michael Moore saying “It’s alright I‘m sorry” (Bowling for Columbine) is heartbreaking. All of these different emotional stories show a lot of emotion and would touch anybody’s heart. But what does this have to do with easy access to guns and ammunition? All of these shootings were because of easy access to guns and ammunition. Moore was not rude when he interview people, he did try to get answers out of the people, but he was not too pushy. He used Dick Clark’s and Charlton Heston’s interviews in order to show us how some people do not care about what happens too the children of America. Michael Moore’s interview with Dick Clark showed that Dick Clark wanted no part in answering any questions. Dick Clark does not care about easy access to guns. When Michael Moore tried to question Dick Clark about Kayla Rowland getting shot, Dick Clar
