Breaking News
“There is much to criticize about the press, but not before recognizing a ringing truth: the best of the American press is an extraordinary daily example of industry, honesty, conscience, and courage, driven by a desire to inform and interest readers”. The mediated approach that I chose was the news, which includes radio, newspapers and television. I chose this approach because I feel that news has a powerful affect on society and the way they view things that are happening in the world. News influences societies view on political, economic and social issues. I view news as the most important form of media, because without news we would not know what is going on in the world. “A major news event can occur unexpectedly somewhere in the world at any moment -- the explosion of a jet airliner in midair, a terrorist bombing of an American military facility, the assassination of a world leader, an outbreak of war in the Middle East, a major oil spill in an ecologically sensitive region. Some of the greatest thinkers ever couldn’t find a solution, which tells me that the problem is not an easy one to solve. I came across a quote by an author by the name of Kurt Vonnegut that caught my attention and pretty much sums up my feelings on the subject. He said that the First Amendment reads more like a dream than a law, and no
