Implementation Stage.
System Implementation and System Maintenance The implementation of our newly developed website and our training plan is critical to the success of our capability to expand the sales of the AutoVac. This document will outline the following: implementation time plan, training plan, change management strategies, and our operational plan. The web site will take six to eight months to be fully developed. This should allow adequate time for changes, last minute corrections, and any troubleshooting that may be needed before going live. There is currently no website active in our organization, therefore, we will test the website in a pilot environment for a period of one to two months. Our internal and external pilot teams will review reports generated and workflow to ensure the integrity of the data being collected and for end user ease of use capability. As stated in Introduction to Information Systems “Training is a vital implementation activity.” (p. 364). Training is important to the successful implementation of the web site. The Systems Developers will train the end users on how to operate and maintain the new web site created for the AutoVac. Several sessions will be held for the users in
VacCo will also establish a Disaster Recovery and Contingency Plan. We realize that natural disasters as well as human error can severely damage the operating system. Even a few hours of downtime could substantially impact the health of the company. Proactive outage prevention using predictive monitoring is essential to the prevention of downtime. In the event of a system crash VacCo will have a back up Web server and database system established. Taking periodic disk and tape backups should help with the recovery of customer information, if not resolve lost information completely. This will provide minimal down time. Enterprise (11th ed.). New York: McGraw-Hill/Irwin. O’Brien, J. A. (2003). Introduction to Information Systems: Essentials for e-Business Marketing, Manufacturing and Shipping, Accounting, etc. The purpose and intent is to inform and teach each employee of VacCo. The training will include data entry and process flow for each area as well as a Q&A session. Our Site Designers will handle any IT issues that arise. Part of our agreement for contracting them to design our website was they would provide IT support: upgrades, patches, fixes, etc. for two years with optional support after that for a price to be negotiated at that time. As stated in Introduction to Information Systems, “Most suppliers of hardware and software products…offer a variety of IS services…” (p. 362). If an issue does occur that may not be of a technical nature, a review of the system documentation will be needed with members of the implementation team (when necessary) to determine the cause of the issue.
