JEAN PIAGET WAS THE GREATEST SCIENCETIST TO HAVE AN IMPACT ON THE STUDY OF COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT.
Jean Piaget was born on August 9, 1896 in Neufchatel, Switzerland. He passed away on September 16, 1980 at the age of ninety-four in Geneva. Piaget started high school at the age of eleven, during which time he wrote a short paper on the Albino Sparrow. He considered this paper to be the start of a brilliant scientific career. Piaget became a well-known Malacologist in his late adolescence years. (Columbia Encyclopedia, 2001,p. 65).
After graduating high school, he studied natural science at the University of Neufchatel. Where he received a degree in Zoology. During this time he published two philosophical essays.
Piaget quickly developed an interest in psychology, which caused him to move from Switzerland to Zurich. This is where he studied under C.G. Jung and Eugene Bleuler. From Zurich he moved to Paris, where he worked for a year at the Ecole de la Grange-aux-Belle a boys institution.
