Napster

Sean Fanning is not a name that you may be to familiar with, but he has forever changed the music industry. He created the ever famous website, Napster. Napster is a website where members can now legally share, download, and burn C.D.’s for a fee. Napster has come a long way from when he first created the website. In the beginning there were problems with the copyright infringement laws and the recording artists and music industry. Now with the “New Napster”, you pay a fee for unlimited downloads and 0.99 per song you burn. Napster is in my opinion a great website because it offers people a way to download new and old music, burn their own C.D.’s combining their own variety of songs they like, a great advancement for the music industry, and job oppuritunies.

Have you ever been driving and heard a song, but didn’t know the title, or artist, but you know the words? Try finding that song in the music store. But an excellent feature on Napster is that you can search by title, artist, or even by some of the words of the song. As with any new website, there has to be people that operate it. Napster has the same needs. They have available one their website a list of available jobs that they are currently hiring for. Which is helping to employee people with the qualifications, another feature of Napster that makes them a site to be recommend. Napster is always open for questions, comments, and suggestions.

C.D. burning is one of the options featured on Napster. After legal action with the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), Napster has made it completely legal to burn the songs you want onto your C.D. for only 0.99 a song. Burning a C.D. requires a C.D. burner, which has to purchased by the member, which is not offered in the Napster software. C.D. burning is another great feature offered by Napster that makes it a great website for making your own C.D. fit to your own taste of music, with a variety of different artists and styles of music on one C.D. Of course with the Internet there is always ways around paying for something. Illegal downloads and C.D. burning, this is still a problem for Napster and the RIAA. People are still able to get access to the website with programs like WinZip. Along with another program such as Peer Guardian, so no one can detect their illegal activities, they are still able to download and burn for free. In order to stop this copyrigh
