Behavioral Science Applied To Art

In the world of art, there is a wide range of classifications that fall under this category. There is not just one type of person that can be called an artist. An artist can be a painter, musician, sculptor, metal fabricator, architect, or someone who design, express, or produce objects subject to aesthetic criteria. Art can be an emotional expression of feeling and thought, and the motivation behind what drives people to express themselves in this manner is what will be analyzed and concluded in this paper.
Humanity is the basis of people's emotions, actions, feelings, likes, dislikes, and creativity. This is why people loose themselves in feelings and emotions, and urges them to devote their lives passionately to things that others might consider as a waste of time or of no value. This expressive emotion is a main reason why people become what are known as a "starving artist," because some people prefer to sacrifice the pursuit of wealth for what they love to do. Most people have different opinions for what they think is "good art." Art is something that can not be put in a category of good or bad because it is always different in the eyes of the beholder. Music is an example of art that produces many different opinions because of different styles. The artist produces emotion to frame the overall construction of that art. The observer will then gain a perspective of the art when viewed, whether the same emotion as the artist's is conjured or whether a different emotion is now felt. Art produces a language that, in turn, produces an emotional reaction from the observer.
What drives a person's creativity and artistic nature produces their style whatever it may be. When an artist decides to create a piece of art, an emotion or set of emotions must have been produced beforehand. As Paul Gauguin, a French Post-Impressionist artist, once said, "I shut my eyes in order to see" (Mistretta).
