The legal age to drink is twenty-one, and people should abide by the laws.
Back in the 1960’s and early 70’s a number of states lowered their drinking age from twenty-one to eighteen. In many of these states, research found an increase in highway deaths due to this law. Since then, all states have raised the drinking age back up to twenty one. This just shows that at the age of eighteen your life takes off with too many responsibilities and it’s hard to handle alcohol. Children do not have enough responsibility and since they are now classified as adults they thinks they can do whatever they want. Another strategy is the ALR laws (Administrative License Revocation). This is where their license is automatically suspended for failing the alcohol test or refusing to take it. Seventy five percent of young teens say that alcohol is so easy to acquire. This is something that also needs to change. Even when police try to combat teen drinkers their are really no consequences if they are caught. They are most of the time let off easy with community service. If we could all work together as adults and teens and enforce these laws we can combat underage drinking. Underage drinking is very dangerous and it is becoming more and more popular, and the only way it can change is if we start making things happen NOW!
