Bjork was born in Iceland on November 21st, 1965. Björk started her musical training by studying the flute, piano and voice and because her stepfather was also a member of a rock band in Iceland she was no stranger to music;. Before becoming a solo act, Björk was the vocalist of several bands throughout her career. In 1977, Björk recorded her first album at age 11 and since has had a number of albums. She has experimented with a rage of musical styles including pop, British dance music and rock. In 1997, she released her third solo album ‘Homogenic’. She describes the album as a character who has been put into an impossible situation that is almost war-like, but instead of fighting back with guns and weapons, they fight back with love. The second track on Homogenic titled ‘Joga,’ is named after a close friend. In the song she repeats the lines
The 10th track on Homogenic is titled “All is full of love’ and was released in June 1999. Björk quotes “On a more personal level. It's about when you have been too stubborn about giving love to one particular direction... you expect it back ...like it's a bank or something. And kind of realizing that it's up to you what you give, but it's not up to you what you are given and where from.” The song has an ‘electrical’ style where many of the sounds were done on computers and like “Joga”, this song mixes violin, voice and heavy beats.
