Reflection: Things Fall Apart of Chinua Achebe

Just when people thought that everything is fine, things start to fall apart. This happens to the people in the village of Umuofia. Many of them believe that everything is happening the way it all has to. But they don't realize that things start to fall apart when they least expect it. Not until the drastic events that happened in their clan. But even before the confinement of their clan, things are gradually falling apart. .
When do things start to fall apart? Why do things fall apart? Each character shares a piece of what really make things fall apart. .
Unoka is the father of Okonkwo. He is an idle person, lazy and improvident. That makes his life uneasy. Things fall apart because he tends to forget his responsibilities as a man. He must have realized it earlier but he chooses not to do anything about it. His life ended with nothing to be proud of. There's always hope but in his case he let that hope go astray. .
Unoka has a son, Okonkwo. He is a great warrior, feared and honored by many. He works hard to maintain such honor. He is a man of courage, yet he is a man of cowardice. He shows his braveness to his family and to the people of Umuofia. His wife and children are afraid of him. He is heartless. Once he met a child named Ikemefuna. That child is very close to his heart yet he chooses not to tell him. When the time comes that Ikemefuna has to go, he does nothing to stop a bloody end. His heart tells him not to kill Ikemefuna, but his name convinced him to do so. Okonkwo is a great man but not good enough to honor his family and his own father. He is ready for all battle but he is not ready to face the truth that he is the son of a great failure, Unoka. He is afraid to be linked with his father's name. That's what makes him a coward.
Furthermore, Okonkwo is too sure of himself. Things are doing just fine but at one time in Okonkwo's life, he had to leave his fatherland.
