Anarchism is a theory, which is about a country without government. How can a country work without government? I can't imagine that situation because a country needs government to control all the activities such as economy, cultures, politics, education and health service. Therefore government is the most important part of a country. Government has four functions: protect the citizenry, secure order, distribute power equitably, and provide a safety net.
The first and most important function of government is to protect the citizenry. Government must protect the citizenry from the terrorism, poverty, crime and aggressors. For example, the citizens need the government protection from environment hazards, unsafe or unfair business affairs, and the exploitation of consumers and also the workers. To protect the citizenry, government must have laws and regulatory agencies. Regulatory agencies can help the government to enforce the laws that apply to a particular activity. For example, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) manages the trading of stocks and bonds, the National Labor relations Board (NLRB) manages employer-employee issues. Central intelligence Agency (CIA) is responsible for gathering and analyzing information for policy-makers. With CIA, American government can decrease the criminal rates and protect America from foreign aggressors. .
The second function of government is to secure order. Society can't develop with many divided individuals who acted to benefit themselves only. How can countries develop without law? And citizens can do everything, which they like? The disorder will increase the violence, poverty and criminal rates. The citizens don't have safe life in this society. Therefore government is needed to secure order in a country. Government unifies many individuals to benefit their country instead of benefit themselves. It makes country develop quickly and the citizen's life become better and better.
