All world religions have their own sacred scriptures. They all teach that the world and the universe was created, that the universe is not meaningless and that it has a purpose as do humans. This is explained in the bible and all sacred literature. Often people ask ‘is the bible reliable’ and ‘was it just made up’.

Many Christians believe that the bible is the direct word of God and believe every word of the bible. However, to me this seems hard to accept, since the bible is made up of 66 books and was written over a period of 3000 years by many different authors who believed that God communicated with them, but how do we come to believe the word of these different authors. The Bible is said to be God's Word to man. In this book, God discloses everything He desires man to know concerning Himself, His workings in the past, and His plans for the future. Nothing in the Bible is extraneous to divine revelation. The whole of it comes from God.

On the other hand, it could be said that inspiration does not mean that God merely assisted man in the writing process. He actively caused and inspired those men

Biblical scholars have also noted that almost every page of the Bible, weather written in Hebrew or Greek contained both spelling and grammatical errors. If one assumes that the bible is inerrant, then you could expect errors of all types in the bible; errors in fact, errors in belief, errors in spelling and errors in grammar. In addition, no scripture is free of bias. Essentially all versions are the product of translators who come from a similar theological background. Being human, they sometimes produce versions of the bible that tend to match their own belief systems.

Even though the bible has been used to support differing positions on such issues as Christians participation into war, slavery, and the male female relationship, we believe that there are principles, which will give us helpful guidance on these issues. In this way, the authority of the bible as God’s word transcends the culture and the history in which it was written. Because God acted through people, Israel and the history, the bible reflects both God’s word and the human perception of that word. This would mean that the bible both reveals God’s will and mans disobedience to that will. Therefore, this would mean that the literal interpretation of the scriptures would contain some human error, so it was be impossible to say the scriptures are the direct word of God.
