The Quaker Oats Company was formed in 1901 by American pioneers. The company has produced quality products for more than a century. The company markets their products on five continents, but 93% of their operating income and 75% of sales come from the United States and Canada. Their largest single brand, Gatorade® accounts for 35% of sales and 37% of operating income. Their other leading brands include:

{ Quaker® cereals and grain-based snacks

The Quaker Oats Company currently boasts net sales of nearly $5 billion. It also manufactures and markets a diverse portfolio of food products in many Latin American, European and Asian countries. The Companies goal is to be the undisputed leader in the food and beverage industry. They intend to do this by making Quaker a winning company. A place where talented people have opportunities and are rewarded for contributing to an exciting, profitable growth. Their guiding principles are:

The company utilizes a candidate resume database. The resumes that are received stay active in the system for six months. Their college recruitment is based on specific schools for specific jobs, for example Accounting and Finance are recruited from an Indiana University. BA in logistics, supply chain management, marketing, MA in market research, and finance are recruited from Michigan State, Ohio State and Penn State. During the summer months Quaker offer various internships for undergraduates and graduate students and they utilize these internships for recruiting future employees.

The second main recruiting strategy is their use of college and university career placement offices to recruit individuals. Quaker focuses on recruitment of minorities by instituting several programs that targets those groups. Quaker Oats Hispanic American, African -America, and Asian-American commitment helps to attract potential employees to the company by recruiting from predominantly minority schools. Some of their commitments include supporting education systems, promoting volunteerism and support community organizations.

Quakers culture is Simplicity, Innovation and Passion. Simplicity means that rather than doing everything with mediocrity, the company wants to do a few things well. That is why over 90% of their brands have leadership positions in their respective categories, and why they have honed their portfolio to focus on higher-margin, higher-growth businesses. They consider innovation one of their major advantages. Innovation is not episodic: it’s constant. They value and reward people who help them constantly fuel their pipeline with value-creating ideas. They create a culture of passion with a strong will to win, and strong incentives and rewards for all employees who drive results.
