Home School Vs Public Shool

Children can be educated through many resources. Formal education has been centralized as the main source of a child's education. The most common place for children to be educated is within the public school system. However, this is not the only option for a parent to consider. An alternative to sending children to a public school would be for one parent to stay at home and educate their own children. This type of education is referred to as home schooling. Both alternatives have the potential to be very effective ways of educating a child. This aside, there are many surrounding issues to take into consideration. I will discuss, in my own opinion, some basic concerns that I think people may have in regards to this issue. The major differences between a home school and a public school are atmosphere, parent and teacher roles, and social interactions.

The physical difference between public school and home schooling, is the atmosphere in which the student is placed within. The home school would involve a one on one instruction between the parent and the child in their home. Whereas, the public school system provides one teacher for approximately thirty students in a building separate from the student's home. In my opi

nion, there isn't enough one on one interaction between the teacher and each student in a public classroom. This makes it an even more difficult task for the teacher to monitor the level of each student, as well as providing proper discipline for these students. In a situation like this, it could take a long time to notice that a student is falling behind the rest of the class. If something like this goes unnoticed for too long, the student could suffer. The most severe consequence in this case would be the student failing a grade. Whereas, a student who is being schooled at home, is less likely to "fall

Public schooled children are socialized differently than home schooled children. These differences could contain both positive and negative implications on both sides. On the one hand, the home schooled child may be less exposed to a negative environment than public school children. As a result, this lack of exposure to negative behavior and attitudes could leave the home schooled children unprepared for the real world. On the other hand, parents who send their children to public school are allowing exposure to all sorts of influences outside of the home. Consequently, it is common for the parent of a public schooled child to lose touch with their child's social surroundings. It may be easy to lose control and knowledge of who their children are socializing with.
