Earnhardt Father And Son

“I know a man whose hands are so callused that gloves aren't necessary. Once, while cutting down a tree, he cut the back of his hand to the bone with a chainsaw. He didn't even stop to look until the job was done.” This man is Dale Earnhardt Sr., also known as, “The Intimidator”. The Words spoken by his son Dale Earnhardt Jr. epitomize the tenacity and stone heart possessed by his father. The drive made so famous by Sr. was naturally passed on to Dale Earnhardt Jr., “The Dominator”. Although they may be two completely different people they share a palpable almost innate style displayed on the track; away from the super speedway their clashing approach to life seems understandable given their highly different upbringings.

Earnhardt father and son are a generation apart outside the cockpit, but strap them into their racecars and the same talent-rich blood feeds both their systems. Sr.'s father, Ralph Earnhardt, provided the help that started his son's career in racing. He himself drove stock cars for a living. But, this son of a driver had a life style that was a far cry from the lavish one his son would come to know. Times for Dale Earnhardt Sr. were often hard and he had to make do.

To those who fail to look deep into the lives of Earnhardt father and son may see them as the same person: a fearless driver on a brink of disaster, willing to go three wide no matter the cost. But for those of us who delve into the lives of the two see two men from different backgrounds with far different lives who happen to share the same name and drive a race car for a living. “This man could lead the world's finest army. He has wisdom that knows no bounds. No fire could burn his character, no stone could break it. He maintains a private existence. O
