For this art essay I decided to learn and critique on an artist by the name of Leonardo da Vinci. I chose him because I didn’t know that much about him and wanted to know why he is so admired and famous? Did he become famous before or after he died? What makes Leonardo unique compared to other artists? I also wanted to learn more about the Mona Lisa. Why is it such famous and valuable painting for just being a picture of a lady? Leonardo da Vinci was born in 1452 and died in 1519. Painting and being an artist is in the da Vinci genes. When Leonardo was just fifteen years old his artistic career had begun. He was an apprentice for a famous artist by the name of Verrochio. Leonardo turned out to be a whole lot different than I thought he would be and I could relate to some of his situations. He liked to do different types of paintings that no other artist was doing. This I felt made him a rebel, which I like to be at in times of my life. He was one amazing person that I will have a different perspective on for the rest of my life. I also came to realize that the Mona Lisa is a very good piece of art. One just needs to concentrate on the beauty and the overall meaning of what it is showing.
