Eulogy James Gatz

We are here to commemorate the passing of our dear friend James Gatz, or known to us as Jay Gatsby, son of Henry Gatz. In life, he was a man who had affected us all in many ways and in his death, we realise the significance of the role that Gatsby played in our lives and we will truly miss him. He died young and in our hearts he will remain to be the vibrant young man that he was before his death. Today we shall celebrate his life and give thanks for the privilege of having him as a friend who had never let us down in times of great need. I can honestly say that he Gatsby was a remarkable man and it will be difficult to find another man who possesses the qualities that many of us don't in today's harsh world.
Born James Gatz, Gatsby grew up in a farm in the West where he left his home at the age of 17 to join the War. I believe he had changed his name to Jay Gatsby after the war in order to start a new life and to forget his past. He was dispatched in many parts of Europe and this was probably the main reason I had gotten to know him well as it turned out to be our topic of conversation on our first meeting at one of his fancy parties that he held regularly. We know we won't forget those wonderful parties he gave with the fancy orchestra, wonderfully delicious buffets, and finer foods where we would be acquainted with one another and meet others or reunite for that matter.
Gatsby was a leader among men who rose to his greatness in the economic world due to hard work and sheer determination accompanied by great loyalty and enormous amounts of kindness and generosity. He was a person who would set a goal and achieve it no matter what the odds. A man who would take life to its fullest and not complain about its difficulty. I remember an incident that shows Gatsby's generosity. This was when at one of his parties, a girl had ripped her dress and Gatsby had bought her a new dress worth much more than her old one.
