As a high school senior, applying for college is a very tedious activity. The same questions are asked over and over again, and the essays seem to be never ending. However, when asked the question, "What school would you like to attend?", I immediately answer Delaware State University. Delaware State has all that I am looking for. Sophomore year, I was awarded with the presidential award for outstanding achievement and academic excellence. Last year, I was nominated for an award in Defense, Intelligence, and Diplomacy from the National Youth Forum of Washington D.C., I would like to pursue a c...

Democracy literally means "government by the people" and in Athens the demos were the poorer people. In Plato's work "The Simile of the Cave", Socrates talks about such themes as ignorance of men, and enlightenment. You can compare this to everyday life, but I think he was talking about politics. He says " Society will never be governed either by the uneducated, who have no knowledge of the truth the intellectuals will take no practical action of their own accord, fancying themselves to be out of this world in some earthly paradise." He believes that the current people who are living and running society, are blinded by their idea of what is right, and have no will to change their views. It's ...
The Prince "The Prince" is a political handbook written by Niccolo Machiavelli as a gift for the Medici family in hope that it would get him back in the family's good grace. though I did not have much of an interest in, and did not understand a lot of Machiavelli's "the prince", of all the choices, I was most comfortable writing about on it, as it was still fresh on my mind from reading. Politics, and things of that nature really are not my favorite subject to read about, so getting into "the prince" I knew it was going to be quite a chore to get through. Though, I was surprised to find that m...
