The story is about a young mother's mental deterioration, postpartum depression, in which she is advised, based on medical theories that her husband, as a high standing physician, gave to her, "to abstain from any and all physical activity and intellectual stimulation", which included reading, writing or taking care of her new baby ("The Yellow Wallpaper" 277). ...
