AE Housman Reading this poem I had several different impressions. First reading it in a literal aspect I saw a child who ran races and perhaps won. Even if he didn't win he was made to feel like a winner. "And home we bought you shoulder high" (line 4) this says they bought him home proudly but not necessarily that he won. Next something happens to the runner that makes him unable to run, perhaps old age but I think death because of the following lines: Will flock to gaze the strength less dead"(line26) I also think there were key statements throughout to somewhat changed my thought pattern. I...

I agree with National Wellness Institute's definition of "wellness". National Wellness Institute defines Wellness as "an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a more successful existence". This means that when person is healthy, he/she is able to clearly see all possible choices in their life, and that he/she is able to logically make the right choices in order to succeed. For example, a person who is under a lot of stress, which may be caused by debts, or may be by family issues, is not really healthy. As the problems continue to build up, a person becomes ill, mentall...

"In the higher world form of good appears last of all, and is seen only with effort." -Plato I think that this summarizes a part of life that at least I couldn't summarize in only one sentence. What Plato is describing is how if you work hard, put in lots of effort, you will see results. Goodness only comes when a person wants to see it, and doesn't take advantage of it. When a person works really hard toward something in particular, and is dedicated to it, they will get what they were working for. Plato realizes that this method of getting what you want is possible, depending on the size of t...

What exactly is a "city on a hill" many consider it to be a perfect society, but overall nothing in this world that's human at least, can be perfect. So maybe a "city on a hill" is a society that strives for perfection but in the end will never reach there goal, not because they can't, just because it's ... up to. They thought that all they needed to create their perfect society was hard work and religion. The Puritans society was far from perfect though, in fact, I think the pressure to have such a perfect society was the cause of most of their problems. Since Winthrop's time, the term "City...
