One of the first steps Memphis took is saving the Lorraine Motel and turning it into the National Civil Rights Museum and also building the Pyramid in downtown Memphis to help boost the economy. .
Through the years downtown Memphis has faced many struggles like dilapidated buildings, crime, and businesses moving out of the area.
