Without Emotion

Controlling my personal emotions in everyday life enables me to prevent small amounts of stress from impairing my ability to function. A way of compressing such anger is to just do a physical activity such as running to get your mind of your problem. Libby in "Without Emotion" elaborates on how he deals with his emotions by facing them. His mind whispers "kill or be killed," soon like a machine he will kill without emotion. A time where I had to confront my emotions was just this past summer. My sister, Jackie, had told my mother and me that she would go out swimming with her friend at the Neighborhood Community pool. As the 10:00 o"clock-be in your room-curfew time approached my Mother and I wondered were she was. I asked my mother if she had heard from the two. A bit later we received a phone call from the police. My sister had managed to tag the high school. She isn't the type of person who would vandalize; she was just with the wrong people at the wrong time. After my sister came home I just imagined strangling her because she caused grief. The whole situation upset me very much but what upset me most was the fact that she lied to me and abused my trust for her. I wanted to scream my lungs out and just kill her. But I didn't, I understood that she was my sister, blood, and that people all make mistakes and that I should forgive my sister and I should forget what had happened tonight. I just told myself I had to leave the living room before I go insane so I left the room and went to my room, slamming the door behind me. There in my room I turned the music loud, didn't matter what type of music it was, to drown out any thoughts I had in my mind at the time. Tired, I took a deep breathe, turned off the music and went to bed. To control your emotions, sometimes I just ignore it or try to do something different to get your mind of the situation, such as listening to loud music. This didn't mean she didn't get any punishment; she was grounded for a long time and limited free/fun time.
