Functionalism

 

            
             As many of us went through high school we were involved in many things. I for one was involved immensely with sports. I was in every sport the school had to offer or I at least tried it. High school sports were about having fun, winning and being with your friends. .
             When joining a sports team you"re joining a higher social class. You become a part of a team. You are placing yourself as a whole to dedicate time and effort to this sport, whether it is practices, games or team activities. Once you commit yourself to a team you are committing yourself to be part of a team, to work together and get along. While being a team member, you have to agree with other team members on a situation or problem. You have to be able to talk to each other, get along during your competitions/games, and work as a whole. .
             When playing any high school sport you learn many skills that help you in the small society class. Such skills are communication skills, you have to be able to communicate with your teammates in order to win and get along. These communication skills will help you in society by going to college, getting a job and making friends. Another skill you learn while playing sports is leadership. When being involved in a sport you learn to take over and step up. You lead your team to victories, you tell your teammates to step it up when it counts the most. These leadership skills you learn will also help you in society as a whole. You will use these skills for the rest of your life, having good leadership skills will help you get a good job and be a responsible person. You also learn responsibility skills while playing sports during high school. You have to be a responsible person while in sports. You can't drink, smoke or do drugs while on the team, if you do you could be suspended or kicked off the team. You also have to make it your responsibility to make it to practices, games and your teams" social events.
