Society Without Government

"(Hobbes: Para 09).
             .
             Solitary.
Hobbes assertion that life would be solitary without government is absolutely true. Without the infrastructure that government provides, we would have far greater difficulty going about our daily lives. .
Modern governments provide an environment where necessary or desirable innovations are rewarded either by government (through subsidies or government contracts) or the individual contracts between the innovator and individual citizens. .
Such is the case with Bell Canada. Bell Canada has provided telecommunications to millions of people in Ontario through individual contracts with its customers. Consider for a moment, there was no government to provide an environment where this kind of innovation could flourish. Now consider life without telecommunications. Without telecommunications we as a society would be forced to communicate in other ways. .
We would perhaps have to communicate by sending letters on paper. Hobbes states in his writings that there would be, "no letters." (Hobbes: Para 09) The government of Canada owns the postal service, so without government there could be no postal service. Therefore, now the only avenue of communication left is to physically travel to communicate with other people in person. Only now, you realize that the roads, public transportation, railroad, seaways and all other avenues of public travel are controlled or facilitated to some extent by modern government and do not exist in a society without a governing body. Finally the only mode of communication is to hike great distances over perilous terrain to communicate with the people you would have, in a society with modern government, just called by telephone. The lack of all of these securities certainly would create a solitary environment in which to survive.

             Poor.
From this solitary environment, I would like to delve into how a government affects the financial status of its citizens.
