Campaign Finance

Money: A corrupting influence in politics or an expression of speech?.
Money is a corrupting influence in politics, especially when it comes to money donated to political candidates for campaigns. This time of the year the question is always asked how money donated to campaigns for elections affects the impending elections and how afterward, the political world is changed because of these large donations. Money donated to a campaign, especially in large amounts, can drastically affect an election, even if the candidate does not change his views from when he was an underdog to when he is an overwhelming favorite. After an election is when the corruption occurs, as the politician elected could be and often is influenced by the organization (charity, company, or individual) that made the large donation. He or she can often be influenced to the point that he changes his whole domestic or foreign agenda.
It is a proven fact that the more money a political candidate amasses, the better chance he has to win the election. No longer can a candidate rely on televised debates to spread his name and letting the public getting familiar with him. He must buy commercial time on television and radio, as that would allow the general public to get familiar with not only his name and face, but on what side does he stand on for important issues such as the environment, education, and healthcare .All these commercials cost and extraordinary amount of money. All this money has to come from somewhere, and the majority of it comes from donors that have deep pockets and hope that they can influence the politicians" stance on issues, if and when he gets into office. This money that is raised from these organizations is called "soft money", or money that doesn't come out of the individual's pocket to support his campaign. Soft money is what is the corrupting influence in politics. .
I think that the corruption starts when an organization donates a large amount of money to the candidate's campaign.
