Life with the Animails

It was about how world war two was effecting the zoo's because when Japan bombed the city they were afraid that the elephants cages would break open and the elephants would escape harming the town. They tried everything they could to kill the elephants without rudely harming them. They tried to give them a shot but the skin was to tough. They then finally without and other resort they had to starve them to death. They chose this instead of shooting them because it took 10-20 days for the elephants to starve. So if the war was over they would save the elephants. They had three elephants. The first elephant died in 17 days. They then started to starve the other two elephants. about 10 days went by. When they then seen their owner they started doing tricks for him. Knowing they always got treats after doing a trick. The owner couldn't stand it anymore and had to feed them. He knew they had to die so instead of feeling sorry for them each day when seeing him, he never went out there. He waited until they died. The day the elephants finally passed away. All the zoo keepers went in the elephants cage and petted them and said their good-byes. They had a proper barrier by giving them their own grave. Each year the owner comes to their grace and places flowers on it.
