Is Sarah Palin getting a raw deal?

The presidential election is over and the media is largely focused on the winner: president-elect Barack Obama. It is a glorious time for many because he is the first African-American to grace the White House. Yet, within all of the current celebration, there looks to be a dark side. What is it? It is all of the bad press still surrounding the GOP vice presidential pick Sarah Palin, which leads me to ask the question is Sarah Palin getting a raw deal? .
Let's face it. By now, most losing vice presidential picks would have faded into the background as soon as the election was over. Even in the winner's circle, Joe Biden isn't getting as much press as his past competitor Sarah Palin. Yet, the media seems focused on her. Besides the ongoing plays of Tina Fey/SNL snippets, they are airing out all of her dirty laundry, literally. The media keeps discussing her alleged purchasing of $150,000 worth of clothing off the GOP budget. Now, reports are filtering in that she tacked on another $30,000 in wardrobe items including silk underwear for her husband! Of course, Alaskan governor Sarah Palin denies all of these rumors. She calls them "silly", but in the end it's got to hurt a gal. After all, even Palin isn't made of stone. .
You"d think after Palin was mocked so openly for the past three months that the media would give her break. You know, let her rest after losing in the general election. Yet, all of this information leaking from the McCain staff is just being used to fuel more fire and news reports. So, again I ask, is Sarah Palin getting a raw deal? Well, maybe - but it will only help her in the long run.
All of those SNL snippets, flubbed interviews and ugly rumors about exorbitant shopping sprees are just making Sarah Palin more popular. Also, they are what make the average Joe relate to her. How? Who amongst us doesn't have a weird quirk that could be made fun of, said the wrong thing at one time or spent too much money? It's what makes us human and, as a result, love Sarah Palin.
